Today we're introducing goals. Define the outcomes you want to see from your customer messaging, and the Knock agent helps you optimize that messaging to achieve your goals.

Goals in Knock

What is a goal?

A goal is an action you want a user to take (e.g. upgrading) or a state you want them to reach (e.g. being on a paid plan). Most messages you send should have a goal, whether it's inviting more users, converting a trial, or re-engaging someone who hasn't logged in for a while.

Each goal needs success criteria that define when a user has completed it. Today in Knock, a goal can be completed based on:

  • Events. A goal is achieved when a user triggers an event, such as completed_onboarding.
  • Audience membership. A goal is achieved when a user gets added to an audience, such as Pro plan customers.

Defining success criteria enables the Knock agent to measure progress toward your goals and make suggestions to help achieve them.

A goal-aware Knock agent

With goals and criteria in place, the Knock agent understands what success looks like across your messaging, so it can suggest recommended changes to help get you there.

Ask the agent to review how well your current messaging is hitting your goals each week, and it will run an audit and propose experiments that could improve results.

Instead of judging campaign performance by opens and clicks, your team gets an outcome-focused read on performance and a clear list of next steps.

Messaging attribution

Attach goals to your workflows, broadcasts, and guides, and Knock will attribute goal completions to that resource.

This makes it easier to measure which messaging resources are driving the outcomes you care about, and which ones have room for improvement.
